Box Squat

August 7, 2026

Set up like you would for a normal back squat.

This time, use a box to control the depth.

Choose a box height that stops you around parallel.

Turn the box slightly so one corner points between the legs. This makes it easier to stay lined up as you squat back.

Lock in the upper back and take the tension out of the arms.

Keep the eyes forward and pressure through the middle of the foot.

Squat down until you lightly touch the box.

Do not sit and relax.

Stay tight, then stand up with speed.

Do:

  • 2–4 sets
  • 2–5 reps
  • Moderate load

Control on the way down. Stay tight on the box. Stand up fast.

Train what carries over.
